	The district will debut its first Webelos weekend (similar to Gateway’s) Oct. 12-14 at Tahosa.  
 

	            Webelos on the Frontier will give Webelos a taste of scouting life with work on their communicator, outdoorsman, readyman, forester, geologist, music and naturalist activity badges framed by two nights of boy scout camping. Eight youth leaders will lead eight patrols of eight (64 total) through eight stations and teach them many of the requirements for their Whittlin’ Chip, Webelos Badge and Arrow of Light. Capping Saturday’s activities will be a campfire where the Webelos can perform skits and songs. 
 

	            This is a chance to showcase your troop in what may be their first shot at BSA camping and boy-led activities; even if it isn’t, you’ll definitely leave an impression that will last until crossover time. 
 

	  
 

	PROGRAM 
 

	  
 

	        We want troops to adopt a station or two and teach these subjects (references in the Webelos book): 
 

	Readyman: 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 (at first aid) 
 

	Outdoorsman: 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (at camping/wilderness survival/knots) 
 

	Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award: 1, 3, 8 (at nature) 
 

	Whittlin’ Chip: 1, 2, 3 (at knife and saw) 
 

	Sportsman: 2 (at disability awareness) 
 

	  
 

	    The stations are: 
 

	Wilderness survival/fire starting (Troop 41) 
 

	Axe, knife and saw 
 

	Disability awareness (Venture Crew 376) 
 

	Cooking 
 

	Camping 
 

	First aid

	        Two adults should be on hand for safety and two-deep leadership, and you should staff the station with enough boys to teach the subject to a group of eight in 50 minute sessions. 
 

	How you teach the subjects is up to you. We can connect you to the troops that run Gateway’s stations or you can invent your own techniques to make it fun for the boys. As an example, for the knots station, Gateway instructors brought licorice whips so the Webelos could take a treat away as a tasty sample of their handiwork. The cooking station made s’mores, mac and cheese and donuts. Your imagination and your willingness to provide materials are the only limits.
