Mining is one of the most important industrial processes in modern society. We rely upon mining products every day.

This merit badge class is presented by The Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration and The Colorado School of Mines SME Student Chapter. This merit badge class will be held in two sessions. The first session will be Saturday, November 3, 2018 in which there will be some classroom instruction. The second session will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, in which Scouts will tour the Specification Aggregates quarry and processing plant in Golden.

Scouts are asked to be prepared by reading the Mining in Society Merit Badge Book, bring pencil and paper to the first session, bring a signed Blue Card and arrive in uniform. Space at field sessions may be limited to uniformed Scouts.

Cost is $25 per Scout, by check or cash when you arrive at check in for the workshop. Lunch is provided both days. Please note dietary restrictions when registering.

Parents are welcome to attend the classroom presentation, however, space at the second session may be limited first to uniformed Scouts.

For more information, please contact Dick Beach at 303.986.6535.

Workshop will be held at Brown Hall, Room 125, Colorado School of Mines
