260 Scouts and Adult leaders Attend the Jamboree
Two hundred sixty Scouts and Adult leaders from the Denver Area Council are attending the quadrennial National Scout Jamboree held in New Hope West Virginia. For the first time in history, 11 young women are participating in the Denver Contingent as members of 2 Venturing Crews which are co-ed ages 14-20. Denver’s 8 Contingent Scouting Units have been planning and preparing for this adventure for more than 20 months, including fund raising and team building.
The Denver Contingent departed from DIA on Sunday July 7, and is touring New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC before participating in the 10 day Jamboree in the mountains of southern West Virginia. One of the Crews is pictured aboard the USS Intrepid on the Hudson River in New York City.
Boy Scout and Venture Scouts from Denver laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Known in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, today July 12. The ceremony was conducted during a tour involving 260 Scouts and Scouters representing Denver at the 2013 National Jamboree. For the first time in history Venture Scouting girls are involved with the Jamboree and Regina W. joined her Scouting counterparts in the wreath placement.
