Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch (May 27 –August 5)

Camp Cris Dobbins is a traditional summer camp with a broad range of programs and facilities including serving line meals in its beautiful dining hall.

Camp Dietler is a smaller, patrol-based camp emphasizing teamwork and Scouting basics with patrols cooking their own meals.

Magness Adventure Camp offers three-day, two-night sessions to Cub Scouts and their families; the program includes age-appropriate activities in most of the traditional camp program areas.

Tahosa High Adventure Base (June 8 – August 5)

EaglePoint offers troops the opportunity to structure their own camp program, utilizing Tahosa’s facilities and staff.

Alpine Adventures is a six-night mountaineering adventure, combining the training facilities of Tahosa with the breathtaking lakes and vistas of the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

Opportunities to serve Scouting as a member of the Denver Area Council’s seasonal camp staff are available to outstanding applicants. Young men and women are needed who are people-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, willing to teach others, and believe in the principles of the BSA. You will be provided a salary, lodging in tents or cabins, meals, subsidized staff uniforms, limited medical care, and BSA insurance. Before camp opens you will receive training from experienced advisors and leaders pertinent to your job area and to working with youth.

The minimum age accepted for paid employment is 16 (on June 5, 2014). Boy Scouts of America standards require minimum ages of 18 and 21 for some positions (please refer to Join Camp Staff website).

All full-time paid staff members are expected to be available for the full season. The work week is 6 days with a 24 hour time-off period each week.

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is for Scouts and Venture Scouts who are 14 to 15-years-old as of June 5, 2014.  They volunteer for at least three weeks in preparation for possible full-time employment. CIT’s are not paid a salary but are provided room and board. They will not be eligible for full-time employment until they reach the age of 16.  CIT’s will spend a minimum of 1 week living and working at each camp in order to receive the best overall training in ranch operations.

Applicants are considered for positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, or the presence of a health problem or handicap that is unrelated to your ability to perform the jobs requested.

All staff members must be registered with the Boy Scouts of America prior to employment. The standards of the Scout Oath and Scout Law must be adhered to at all times. The staff sets an example of Scouting excellence that includes the proper wearing of the full uniform and the proper use of official equipment while in camp. Behavior and appearance standards, as will be specified in the employment letter and handbook, must be followed at all times.

  • November 1, 2013 - Camp Director and Program Director applications due
  • December 1, 2013 - Ranchwide Area Director applications due
  • January 2, 2014 - Counselor/CIT applications due*

* Applications will be accepted after this date but some positions may have been filled.
